International health and nutrition provider USANA Health Sciences, Inc. is expecting nearly P3 billion in its revenues through its Philippine subsidiary, USANA Health Sciences Philippines, which remains to be one of its largest revenue contributors among its international units.
Based in Utah, USANA Health Sciences is a NASDAQ-listed manufacturer of health and wellness products.
In an interview with Business Bulletin, David Mulham, USANA executive vice president for field development in Pacific Region, said the company’s Philippine unit is now the number three revenue contributor to the entire USANA group.
“Our business in the Philippines is doing really good. In fact, we are expecting to reach P2.8 billion in revenue this year — our first time in our five years of operation in the country,” Mulham said.
On the global front, Mulham said USANA Health Sciences posted a net sales increase of 10.5 percent to USD191.9 million or P8.5 billion for the third quarter of 2014.
“And what’s interesting to note here is that the increase was driven by overall associates growth of 18.8 percent generated by USANA’s Asia Pacific units,” he further said.
Moving forward, Mulham said the vision for USANA Health Sciences is to further expand its business in the Philippines
“On the micro-economic level, the Philippines is rich in talented, driven, and passionate professionals. This, I believe, is one of the primary reasons why the Philippines is one of the strategic markets to expand in today,” he said.
“To find a market where people are professional enough to make that commitment for a company, share the organization’s vision and passion, that’s something that is difficult to find or build,” he added.
On the macro-economic perspective, Mulham said the Philippine economy is currently on a steady growth and this is a good foundation for a company to be, at the very least, interested in investing in the country
Established in 2009, USANA Health Sciences Philippines celebrated its fifth year in the country this year.
“What’s wonderfully surprising about the Philippine unit is how quickly it grew. Imagine in a span of five years, the Philippines is now the third top contributor of the company’s global earnings. We have also expanded our operations in the country such that we now have two operational sites: one in Makati and a distribution center office in Davao City,” Mulham further said.
To mark its fifth year, the company recently launched its humanitarian arm USANA True Health Foundation in the country.
“Perhaps the more accurate reflection of the foundation to our business in the country is that it signifies a stronger and deeper commitment that USANA Health Sciences has for the Philippines,” said Mulham.
True Health Foundation is present in all 18 countries that USANA Health Sciences operates in.
