A patrolman on the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) was found this morning by the side of the road in Calamba City, Laguna after having apparently been shot dead by an unidentified assailant.

Calamba police identified the victim as El Marcelo Danoso, a 58-year-old patrolman of the SLEX Manila Toll Expressway Systems. Reports say the victim was near Makiling Village on his way to work last night, when he was shot in the forehead. Police arrived at the scene at around 9:10am, Balitambayan reports.

Staff Sgt. Ernesto Reyes said the victim was still in uniform, and was found in one of the SLEX’s flood control channels, on the other side of the highway’s road-shoulder barrier. According to Reyes, the victim reportedly had personal quarrels with people whom he claimed threatened his life, though he did not offer details, ABS-CBN reports.

Police are seeking the suspects involved in the case and investigating the motive behind the killing.
