While we can all dream of renovating a house and creating our dream interiors, sadly the reality doesn't always live up to the Pinterest board. But that doesn't mean you can't create beautiful and useful spaces on a budget, even in rooms that are a little smaller than you'd like.
Ikea hacks are a great way to do exactly that. Whether it's turning BILLY bookcases into built-in storage, or making a desk out of two chest of drawers; there are always ways to turn flat pack furniture into custom-made-esque options.
The latest one to catch our attention on Pinterest is an adaptation of the EKBY ALEX / EKBY VALTER - a mountable wall shelf with two drawers inside, which people are turning into a dressing table.
The product description reads, "EKBY ALEX allows you to keep your favourite items visible on the open shelf, and hide away things you need close at hand in the drawers. Drawer stops prevent the drawers from being pulled out too far. The thick back edge of the bracket creates a small space between the shelf and the wall where you can run cords through."
The drawer is 119 cm wide and 31 cm deep, making it perfect as a makeup station. Many who have done this Ikea hack already mounted a big mirror above the drawers, and used storage to display their makeup on top, as well as in the drawers.
