Indonesia has won two awards for its amazing short tourism promotion films at the 11th International Tourism Film Festival held in Bulgaria on April 3.

The festival, which was themed "On the east coast of Europe", recognized Indonesia's short films, entitled "Wonderful Indonesia: History Culture" and "Wonderful Indonesia: Diving" as the best in the "History and Culture" and "Sport and Adventure" categories, respectively.

"We are very proud to receive this award, which means we have successfully promoted our country's tourism in the history and culture category, as well as exposed our underwater paradise to the world," said Tourism Ministry Arief Yahya in a press release on April 4.

He added that he is also very proud with the way local videographers and video editors creatively made the films. "Finding the right theme, telling the stories, capturing and editing the short films and creating content that can generate such an immense impression is creativity that we need to appreciate."

Up to 90 films from 23 countries participated in the festival, which features five categories: Nature and Ecotourism, History and Culture, Sport and Adventure, Corporate Tourism Film/Spot and Faith and Traditions. This year, Indonesia participated in the first four of the categories.

The International Tourism Film Festival is an annual event held in the city of Veliko Tarnovo in Bulgaria by the city government in cooperation with the country's association of tour operators and travel agents.
