Indonesian police to probe sex video distribution

Jakarta (The Jakarta Post/ANN) - The Jakarta Police said on Thursday that they would launch an investigation into who distributed the sex tape depicting individuals alleged to be members of Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) having sex.

"We will find out who uploaded the video on the Internet first, an offense punishable by the 2008 Electronic Information Transaction Law for distributing pornographic materials on the Internet," Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Rikwanto told reporters.

He said that the police had yet to question any witnesses in the case. "We're still in the early stages of the investigation. We're still analyzing the video right now."

The one-minute sex video caused in the stir at the House with PDI-P lawmaker Aria Bima vehemently denying that he was the man in the video. The woman alleged to be in the video, fellow PDI-P lawmaker Karolin Margaret Natasha, has also issued a denial.

The video first appeared on an obscure website kilikitik.net before an obscure news website, indonesiarayanews.com, published a story about the video featuring screenshots on Tuesday.
