THE Philippine Retailers Association (PRA) has tapped six industry experts to help retailers maximize the opportunities and weather challenges in a post-pandemic business environment.

They are to speak at the 28th National Retail Conference and Expo (NRCE) next month to provide guidance to local retailers as they thread the difficult path toward full recovery from the impact of the pandemic.

The 28th NRCE carries the theme “Retail: Ready, Re/set/ Grow!.” It is slated on Aug. 11 to 12, 2022 at the SMX Convention Center.

In a statement, PRA president and senior executive vice president-chief operating officer of Wilcon Depot Rosemarie Bosch Ong said the 28th NRCE is a giant step toward the creation of a roadmap to a better retail industry.

“We must equip fellow retailers and supplier industries to help them expand their respective brands and businesses,” she stressed.

Speakers

Tom Oliver, consultant to top Fortune 500 companies, will be delivering the keynote speech on the first day of the event. He founded the Tom Oliver Group, a strategy and management consulting group that is now a trusted advisor to many of the world’s most influential family businesses, market leaders and global conglomerates. Oliver has successfully worked with brands such as Pepsi, Johnson & Johnson and Google.

Don Rae, group head and senior advisor of Globe Business, will be discussing advanced profiling through data analytics and streamlined eCommerce operations. Rae is a veteran in telecommunications, having worked in the industry for 25 years.

Cathy Ileto, SM Retail’s vice president for corporate communications, will also speak at the conference. Ileto has decades of experience in strategic communications. She has been creating a positive impact in various industries including broadcast media, telco, tech and retail, through relevant and meaningful stories.

PRA also tapped Edric Mendoza, chairman of Homeschool Global. Mendoza’s focus is on personal finance, entrepreneurship and innovative learning.

Moreover, Edwin Hawson, president of the Central Marketing Group for the Central Group of Companies Thailand, Thailand’s biggest retailer, is the keynote speaker during the second day of the conference.

CMG is the exclusive distributor and licensee for many iconic brands such as Casio, Dyson, Guess, Calvin Klein Jeans, and other prominent retail brands in the country.

Another world-class speaker on the second day includes Georg Platzer, store manager of Ikea Philippines, who will be speaking about the Ikea experience.

PRA also invited speakers delving into topics such as building supply chain resiliency, reinventing businesses for a new reality, and catering to a new generation of Filipino consumers during the pandemic.

Biggest event

The NRCE is the biggest and longest-running retail industry event in the country.

It is where top retailers and suppliers meet in one venue to share knowledge, build camaraderie and find new ways to accelerate the growth of their careers and respective businesses.

The PRA hopes to see more “retail action” this year as physical events have gradually returned two years since the national lockdown.

“The 28th NRCE is creating a roadmap to a better retail industry. Hence, we must equip fellow retailers and supplier industries to help them expand their respective brands and businesses by providing transformative and actionable strategies as well as harness innovation to achieve global competitiveness,” said Ong.

Attendees of the event will get exclusive access to valuable trends, developments and innovations in the retail arena.
