The iPhone 5S Arrives This Summer, Maybe

Devoid of any exciting rumored features to gossip about, the rumor-bloggers have latched onto some possible, but totally unsubstantiated release dates for the next iteration of the iPhone. That possible cheap iPhone along with an iPhone 5S type deal (maybe in colors) will be available in either June, July, or August, according to one analyst, or another. Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities, who AppleInsider's Mikey Campbell promises has a "notable track record" because of "some connections to the supply chain," says Fast Company's Kit Eaton, predicts a June announcement with phones in stores by July. Previous, equally dubious, translated reports from China have also pointed to a Summer phone. But, iMore's Rene Richie "has learned" that fanboys will have to wait until August. Caveat: "Details can and do change, sometimes repeatedly."

If recent releases are any indication of what Apple will do—and they're not—then the fall would be when new iPhones are due, since both the 5 and 4S came out in September and October, respectively. However, Apple released the iPhone 4 in June, so really, who knows? Nobody, but Apple.

As for what the gadget will look like, Richie predicts an iPhone 5S, that like the 4S, looks the same as its predecessor, with better insides and an improved camera. Our informed analyst believes that supposed cheap iPhone will make its debut then. And, yet another rumor suggests we might see iPod colored phones, too.
