Following GMA’s teaser about a certain “Kuya” joining their network, rumors have been swirling on social media about longtime Kapamilya host Kim Atienza leaving ABS-CBN.

The Kapuso Network posted that “Kuya” will be coming to the network “soon” on Wednesday (September 29).

Paparating na si Kuya, mga Kapuso! Abangan! (Kuya is coming, Kapuso! Watch out!),” was written on the poster which showed a blurred photo of the mystery artist who was gesturing a finger heart.

Without any other details, some keen-observing fans were quick to speculate that the network was referring to Kuya Kim, TV Patrol’s weather anchor.

For his part, Kuya Kim may have alluded to the “transition” on a Facebook Live video.

“Transition. What does transition mean? Transition is moving from Point A to Point B. This is what I can say: the transition is real,” the host hinted.

Atienza shared that he can’t give details about the “transition” yet. Instead, he urged viewers to watch the ABS-CBN’s primetime newscast “TV Patrol” on October 1. He added that it would be a “very historical day” for the show.

Fans had mixed reactions about Kuya Kim’s rumored career milestone.

Some were saddened, recalling his other Kapamilya programs like Matanglawin.

Meanwhile, others were more open to change, and supportive of Kuya Kim.

Some speculated that Kuya Kim would be replacing Mang Tani, GMA-7’s resident meteorologist who has reportedly migrated to Australia.

Kuya Kim hosted several ABS-CBN programs, including the noontime variety program “It’s Showtime” and the educational show “Matanglawin.” He has been the resident news anchor for the “TV Patrol” segment “Weather-Weather Lang” since 2005.
