ISO Certification

MANILA, Philippines --- The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) recently received its ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System certification for 37 enrolled processes.

POEA Administrator Hans Leo Cacdac said the certification is valid for three years or until October 7, 2015.

The agency successfully completed the requirements for certification that underwent two audit stages. A certificate of registration by the Certification International Philippines, Inc. was awarded last November 27.

The scope of the certificate includes the provision of overseas employment services through the regulation of the overseas employment industry, facilitation of overseas employment, protection of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), and general administrative support.

Cacdac said the restoration of the agency's ISO certification was among his seven-point agenda since his appointment in January, this year.

The enrolled processes consist of documentation of workers, registration of applicants, provision of public information and assistance, verification and certification of OFW records, provision of legal assistance, licensing of recruitment agencies, issuance of special recruitment authority, registration/accreditation of foreign principals and employers, and general administrative support services.

"We shall streamline OFW documentation and processing systems to provide a smoother and more efficient delivery of services to OFWs. We shall regain public confidence in our systems with restoration of the POEA's ISO certification," Cacdac said. (Carlos S. Suerte Felipe)
