Jack Black 'heartbroken' as 'School Of Rock' co-star dies at 32

Jack Black has said he is “heartbroken” after his School Of Rock co-star Kevin Clark died at the age of 32.

Clark, who played child drummer Freddy Jones in the 2003 film, died on Wednesday after being struck by a car as he rode his bicycle, reported the Chicago Sun-Times.

Black paid tribute on Instagram, sharing an image of him and Clark in the film and one of them together again years later.

“Devastating news,” he wrote. “Kevin is gone. Way too soon.”

Black, 51, said that Clark was a “beautiful soul”.

He continued: “So many great memories. Heartbroken.

“Sending love to his family and the whole School of Rock community.”

The Sun-Times reported that Clark was riding his bike in Chicago early on Wednesday when he was hit by a vehicle. He was taken to hospital but was pronounced dead just after 2am.

The publication said that the 20-year-old driver of the car was not arrested but that police had issued citations.

Miranda Cosgrove, who played Summer Hathaway in the film, was also among those to remember Clark.

Sharing pictures of them together on Instagram, the 28-year-old wrote: “Stunned and saddened by this news today.

“The world lost an amazing soul.

“I’ll always remember your spirit and how kind you were to me. I’ll never forget all the memories.

“You’ll always be missed Kevin.”

Clark was 12 when he landed the part in the hit movie, which was directed by Richard Linklater and starred Black as a rock fan who ends up turning a class of children into a band.

The film was later adapted for the stage and a TV adaptation debuted in 2016.
