Janice Will Not Campaign For Aga

MANILA, Philippines - Janice de Belen is not going to take part in Aga Muhlach's bid as congressman representing the fourth district of Camarines Sur.

The 43-year old actress said the issue is moot considering her membership in the hugely-influential sect, Iglesia ni Cristo.

"We're not allowed to campaign," de Belen said in a recent press conference.

She revealed that Muhlach had personally asked her about the possibility but that she had declined due to the same reason.

Prior, de Belen was not as succinct in answering questions about the matter saying in an earlier ABS CBN News report that she won't be campaigning for Muhlach as she's "not from Bicol."

"Meron akong mga ninuno from Bicol. But I'm not from Bicol, I don't vote there. I vote here," she said.

But still, de Belen said she wished Muhlach "the best" inasmuch as she believes him capable of delivering on the position he aspires for.

"Why not?" she said. "Malay mo, sila nga 'yung makakatulong sa ikagaganda ng bayan."

De Belen and Muhlach co-starred in a number of films during their teens. They eventually fell in love and had a child together.

But de Belen went on to marry actor John Estrada, with whom she separated in 2001.

Muhlach married former beauty queen Charlene Gonzales.

Meanwhile, asked if their son would be helping Muhlach in her stead, de Belen quipped, "tatay niya 'yun. Dapat lang talaga ipag-campaign niya daddy niya."
