Magnolia guard Jio Jalalon is in hot water once again after he was caught playing in an unsanctioned game or what is locally known as a “ligang labas” match, which is in violation of both the PBA’s rules and the health protocols.
PBA teams and their players have been practicing a rigid gym-home-home setup ever since they were allowed to return to practice back in May. However, photos of Jalalon playing in an outdoor basketball game have surfaced, leading to a P75,000 fine and a five-day suspension without pay being imposed on him by the PBA.
Magnolia has also slapped the 28-year old native of Cagayan de Oro with a five-day suspension without pay. This is not the first time that the cat-quick guard has been caught playing in a “ligang labas” game. He was also caught playing in an unsanctioned game in Laguna before the start of the Philippine Cup late last year and was held out of practice for two days.
The PBA announced on Friday that violators of the health protocols will receive a hefty P75,000 fine as well as a 10-day suspension without pay. (JNP)
