Winter is coming, the days are getting shorter and this change in the number of daylight hours is also reflected in how some of us feel.
Research carried out by depression and mental health treatment specialists Smart TMS has found one in three British people notice a significant decline in their enjoyment levels, which is known as Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), in the winter time.
So one suggestion to combat this and start your day with a positive vibe is to use a sunrise light alarm clock.
The ‘sunrise’ starts 30 minutes before your alarm time and slowly brightens, so you experience a gentle wake up.
Interested? Now is the best time to buy one, as John Lewis & Partners currently has up to 25% off Lumie’s top-rated sunrise light alarm clocks, which are recommended to combat SAD and winter blues, as they claim to help regulate your sleep and wake cycles.
Lumie’s designs work by slowly raising the light in the room before your alarm goes off to help wake you up naturally when it reaches its full brightness.
The change in brightness is to resemble a sunrise, which helps to calm the body, instead of a frantic noisy siren alerting you it’s time to wake up.
When it is time to wind down the lights can be changed from pink to red, before switching off completely, to mimic the sunset.
