Jolina Magdangal says Rico Yan's death changed her life

8 Nov – Jolina Magdangal recently opened up about actor Rico Yan's death, saying that it was a wakeup call for her.

As reported on ABS-CBN, the television personality, who discussed the subject of death on "Magandang Buhay" recently, stated that she never really had any thought about mortality as she never experienced the loss of someone closer in age to herself.

"When Rico Yan died, maybe it took me one day. I just couldn't believe it. [I thought] you can die even if you're at my age," she said.

Magdangal, who worked with Yan in the late '90s youth-oriented series "Gimik", said that she suddenly had a realisation that death could come at any time, at any age.

"It really made a big impact on me," she said.

Yan's death, said Magdangal, made her more thankful for her life and her loved ones.

"Since then, I really cherished my family, myself, and my friends. Life is too short. That's what I thought," she said.

Actor Rico Yan was found dead inside his hotel room in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, in March 2002 from a cardiac arrest caused by acute hemorrhagic pancreatitis while asleep. He was 27.
