Jordan might give Phl another attack helicopter — Duterte

President Rodrigo Duterte announced the possibility of Jordan donating another helicopter to the Philippines.

The President made the announcement at the PDP-LABAN campaign rally in Bukidnon last Saturday night.

This is aside from the two Cobra attack helicopters that are scheduled to be delivered to the Philippines in July, as part of the what Jordan leadership has committed to President Duterte in his last visit to the country in 2018.

“Adto pa gyud ko sa Jordan, didto sa desert. Gipatan-aw ko sa helicopter nga ilang ihatag. Gi-exhibition ngadto. Tagaan ta nila’g duha. Amigo man mi ni King sa Jordan. Ingon siya nga basin himuon niyang tulo. [And then I went to Jordan. In the desert. They showed me the helicopter that they donated.  It was shown in an exhibit there. They gave us two. I’m friends with the king of Jordan. He said he might give us a third],” Duterte said.

The President reiterated, however, that he doesn’t want these attack helicopters to be used in attacking even the members of the NPA as they are still Filipinos.

“Kanang mga helicopter, di nako na gustong gamiton sa mga NPA kay Pilipino ra ta. Masakitan ko mamatay magtan-aw, sundalo o NPA. Pilipino eh. Gusto mo mangita  lang ta’g laing kalaban. Ayaw lang kita. [I don’t want to use those helicopters against the NPAs because we are all Filipinos. It hurts me to see my soldiers and the NPAs dying because they are Filipinos. I’d prefer to fight another enemy, but not our own people],” the President added. – Maris Federez (with details from Rosalie Coz)
