After being away from the PBA for almost two years, Cebuano hoops star June Mar Fajardo will finally be making his return when the San Miguel Beermen take on the Meralco Bolts in the PBA Philippine Cup on Sunday.
The anticipation will be high with fans, teammates and opponents alike excited to see how the 6-foot-10 Fajardo will perform after missing the last 17 months. With this being his first game in over a year, it’s likely that the 31-year old will be placed on a heavy minutes restriction as he tries to play his way back into game shape.
Aside from Fajardo’s return, another reason why the Beermen-Bolts game is a much-anticipated one is the debut of the league’s scoring champion CJ Perez for San Miguel. Perez was acquired by the Beermen from Terrafirma during the offseason in exchange for Matt Ganuelas Rosser, Russel Escoto, Gelo Alolino, and a 2021 first round pick.
Perez adds even more firepower to a veteran crew that already features one-time MVP Arwind Santos, Finals MVP Terrence Rome and the crafty backcourt of Marcio Lassiter, Alex Cabagnot and Chris Ross. (JNP)
