San Miguel Beermen star June Mar Fajardo is ready to make his return to the PBA after missing all of last season because of a leg injury.
The 31-year-old missed the 2020 Philippine Cup after injuring his leg during practice in February 2020. Now, after over a year of rehab and strengthening, the Cebuano is ready to take the floor once again in a bid to help the Beermen regain its top dog status in the Philippine Cup.
According to a report by PBA Rush, San Miguel team manager Gee Abanilla confirmed that the six-time league MVP is already joining the team’s scrimmages in preparation for the league’s opening on July 16. Abanilla, though, admitted that the native of Pinamungajan in Cebu is still not 100%.
Another player that the Beermen is excited to have back in their fold is high-scoring guard Terrence Romeo. The 29-year-old guard missed most of the Philippine Cup last year after suffering a shoulder injury. With Fajardo and Romeo out and several more of the team’s stalwarts playing through various ailments, the Beermen were given the boot by the Meralco Bolts in the quarterfinals.
With Fajardo and Romeo now back in harness, and with the recent acquisition of the PBA’s scoring champion last year, CJ Perez, the Beermen are expected to be one of the title contenders this season. (JNP)
