TWENTY-THREE couples who belong to the St. Arnold Janssen Parish in Janssen Site, Basak San Nicolas, Cebu City will be joined in marriage in sacred rites during the “Kasalan ng Bayan sa Janssen Shrine” on September 9, 2022.

The Kasalan ng Bayan is a project of the parish led by its priest, Fr. Andy Guban, SVD, for parishioners who wish to receive the sacrament of matrimony after years of cohabitation and raising families.

The positive response of the community has been overwhelming and all efforts are now geared toward reaching out to more couples.

As this becomes an annual project in collaboration with Marriage, Family and Life-Cebu Archdiocesan Foundation Inc. (MFL-CAFI) headed by its chairman, Archbishop Jose Palma, this can help promote the sanctity of marriage to further strengthen the role of families as the most basic and significant unit in society.

Pre-Cana sessions for the couples were held on August 13, 2022 at the parish hall. The sessions were facilitated by the Redemptorist Family Center Cebu Inc. (RFCCI), together with the staff of MFL-CAFI and parish members of the Commission on Family and Life-Cebu.

Post-Cana sessions are also being planned after the wedding to hopefully start the couples in their journey toward building families with a strong foundation and knowledge of their catholic faith. (PR)
