THE local government of the town of Badian temporarily closed two of its popular tourist destinations, the Kawasan Falls and Lambug Beach.

This is stated in the order of Badian Mayor Carmencita Lumain, as the sites need to be reconditioned after the facilities were damaged by Typhoon Odette (Rai).

“There is a need to rehabilitate these areas, implement and execute rehabilitation work in accordance with pertinent operational plans to enable the municipality to restore its tourism facilities to its operational state,” Executive Order 30 read.

The mayor also ordered other recreational activities to temporarily stop operations in the area to hasten the rehabilitation.

The building of structures within 20 meters of the Matutinao river near Kawasan Falls has also been prohibited so that the repair of the damaged structures will not be delayed.

The mayor said there should be no reason for delay in the rehabilitation process so that the residents can get back on their feet as soon as possible.

She warned that anyone who violates the order will face appropriate punishment from the government. (ANV / CCP)
