EXHIBITING much of Philippine ethnicity, the Islands Group presented its yearly Cut and Style 2020 fashion show at the Northwing Atrium of SM City Cebu. Stylized by the Fashion Institute of Design and Arts (FIDA) Cebu and cut/embellished by the Cebu Technological University students (Department of Garments), the event theme was labelled “Ethnic Hype.” Showcasing authentic Filipino patterns, the fashion show personalities were Cebuano individuals namely Street Sikat, Online Boosters, Cebuano Powerhouse, Cebuano Creatives and History Connoisseur: The Gate Keepers of Arts and Time and The Colors Hype: Cebuano’s Smashing and Dashing Community. This year’s face for the yearlong #myIslandsExperience campaign is award-winning host Drew Arellano, complimented by Miss Millenial 2019, Nicole Borromeo.
Launching the global campaign, the Fiesta Fun Fest (FFF) showcasing the Philippines’ best festivals was a Thanksgiving Party and dinner event with the Cebu Pacific team held at Bai Hotel in Mandaue City, Cebu. Hosted by Jude Bacalso, guests were welcomed by the company’s vice president for marketing and customer experience Candice Iyog and her team. Special guests were husband and wife Slater Young and Kryz Uy-Young. Offering low-cost services to more destinations with over 120 routes, Cebu Pacific Air and subsidiary Cebgo currently fly to 37 domestic and 25 international destinations.
Highlighting Cebu’s biggest celebration of culture, onlookers enjoyed a sun-soaked day as the Banay Budlaan from Barangay Budlaan and the Tribu Mabolokon of Barangay Mabolo sparkled by showing off their creative dance moves and colorful costumes at the Sinulog Festival, which took place at the Cebu International School (CIS) grounds. Getting into the Sinulog party spirit, other performers at this yearly fest was the Zumba group namely Franz Osalla, Lita Quisumbing and Mita Swank plus other performances by the CIS community as well as a song number by Jun Rivera.
