The NLEX Road Warriors’ star guard Kiefer Ravena has been named an ambassador of the Women’s National Basketball League (WNBL).
The development was announced during a web show that was broadcasted over the league’s official Facebook page. Ravena, who is currently inside the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) “bubble”, said he is excited to do his part in advancing the development of women’s basketball in the country.
The former Ateneo star joins Bea Daez-Fabros as ambassadors of the country’s first-ever professional basketball league for women.
“I’ve always been a big fan of women’s basketball. I believe that it is just as entertaining as men’s basketball. Now that I’m part of the WNBL as an ambassador, I have to represent the league in the highest form and the best way possible,” Ravena said.
Ravena said he hopes to inspire Filipina basketball players to pursue their hoop dreams.
“Hopefully, not only yung mga bata na gustong mag-PBA ang mag-idol sa 'yo, pati na rin mga Pinay ballers na bata pa lang, nangangarap na silang makapasok sa WNBL. Hopefully, I can be a role model to them knowing that they have big dreams too,” said Ravena.
The WNBL is all set to hold its first-ever draft later this month. (JNP)
