The paparazzi have a history of crossing the lines of privacy and behaving in some awfully invasive ways. From selling illegally-obtained nudes to snapping pictures of the young children of celebrities to stalking people outside their private homes, it’s almost unimaginable to know how it would feel.

But Kim Kardashian has revealed she’s been a victim of something many women in the UK have sadly experienced: upskirting.

Upskirting is the act of taking a photograph of underneath a person's skirt or dress without their consent.

It's an unfortunately common occurrence and is often carried out in a public, crowded location. The offender's motivations can range from seeking sexual gratification to causing humiliation or fear.

On her soon-to-be-aired E! True Hollywood Story, Kim Kardashian revealed how during her friendship with Paris Hilton, the paparazzi would lie on the ground to take pictures up their skirts.

As she was new to the celebrity scene at the time, Kim admits her heiress pal was able to help her to steer clear of this predatory behaviour.

“I remember we were sitting in her SLR Mercedes. And the doors flip up this way. And at that point, the paparazzi would lay on the ground to try and get a picture of you, up your dress, and she said, ‘Okay. We need to make sure you don’t give them that.’”

It gets worse.

The beauty mogul also admits that one of the photographers said to her: “So you don’t want anybody to see your p*ssy?”

Yep, utterly upsetting behaviour.

In the interview, Kim goes on to say she’s thankful for her close friendship with Paris, who influenced a lot of her early career.

“[Paris] was such a great mentor for me. I really am grateful for my experiences with her...She’s a huge, huge reason of my success.”

E! True Hollywood Story: Who is Kim Kardashian West is set to air on E! on October 13, 2019.
