THE Police Regional Office (PRO)-Central Visayas will give P100,000 to the families of the four cops who died from coronavirus disease (Covid-19) this year.

Each family will receive P100,000 as financial assistance, said PRO-Central Visayas Director Ronnie Montejo.

But Montejo clarified that the family of Police Lieutenant Colonel Marlu Conag, who died Wednesday, August 18, from Covid-19, will not yet get the assistance, as it is still being processed.

Conag was the former chief of the Talisay City Police Office.

Data from PRO-Central Visayas showed that eight police officers have succumbed to Covid-19. Four died last year, while the four others, including Conag, died this year.

“Duna tay assistance nga gihatag sa naunang tulo kay katong upat last year man to, nya kini karon, nadugang tulo plus nadugangan pag usa nga usa ka opisyal pa gyud nga maayo ug buotan nga kugihan nga official. Tagaan nato sila’g financial assistance ang ilang pamilya nga tag P100,000,” Montejo said.

The PRO-Central Visayas still has 163 active Covid-19 cases, with four new cases reported Thursday, August 19. It also has 16 recoveries. (AYB/LMY)
