King Cakes sold at Mövenpick

GET a taste of royalty and bring home a traditional French treat to celebrate the Epiphany or the coming of the Three Kings. Mövenpick Hotel Mactan Island

Cebu brings back its luscious King Cake or “Galette de Rois,” available for a limited period until Jan. 16, 2020.

The King Cake is a flaky pastry with a sweet filling made from almonds. This dessert comes with a small charm inside—a “feve,” or as it means in French, “hidden inside the cake.”

A French tradition dating back to the 14th century, it brings the young and old together and the King Cake itself is considered the highlight of every feast during this season—making it a fast-selling item in boulangeries and cafés. Each one in the family is in for a surprise to find out who gets the slice with the hidden charm, as he or she will also be declared “King of the Day” and crowned with a cardboard coronet that comes with each cake.

The King Cake is sold at P880 nett each, available at the Lobby Lounge of Mövenpick Hotel Mactan Island Cebu. (PR)
