Korea pulls out of November window of FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers

Korea will not be participating in the November window of the 2021 FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers that will be held in the city of Manama in Bahrain.

The announcement was made by the country’s basketball governing body — the Korea Basketball Association — citing its concerns involving Covid-19.

Korea is playing in Group A, the same group as the Philippines. It has a 2-0 (win-loss) card and was slated to compete against the Gilas Pilipinas on November 28.

The fate of the Gilas Pilipinas men’s national basketball team remains up in the air as a roster and a head coach has yet to be announced. The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas is also still waiting for clearance from the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for Emerging Infectious Diseases to move forward with the team’s training sessions.
