Korean Consulate in Cebu donates 700 food packages to 3 barangays

THE Consulate of the Republic of Korea in Cebu (Head of Mission: Consul General Uhm, WonJae) donated food packages to 700 families from Barangay Mambaling and Carreta Cemetery in Cebu City and Barangay Lawaan 3 in Talisay City. Each family received a food package that contains rice, Korean noodles, canned food, and snacks worth 600 pesos.

The Korean Consulate organized this program in cooperation with the Cebu Korean Women's Association (Chairwoman: Ms. Elizabeth Yang) which has regularly extended food and meal donations to people in difficulty. The donation ceremony which was held at 2:00 PM on the 15th of December 2020 (Tuesday) at the SM Hypermarket, Mandaue City was attended by Consul General UHM, Won Jae of the Consulate of the Republic of Korea in Cebu, Ms. Elizabeth Yang of the Cebu Korean Women's Association, and three coordinators of each barangay, Mr. Norberto Palmerola Jr from Carreta Cemetery, Mr. Cris Pano from Mambaling and Ms. Myrna Boco from Lawaan 3.

During the ceremony, Consul General Uhm said that even though the food donation this time is relatively small, he hoped that those food stuff will help the people from the three barangays to overcome and deal with the difficulty resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. Consul General Uhm also mentioned that the Korean community in Cebu will continue to strengthen and solidify the established friendship with local communities and will boost mutual cooperation. (PR)
