Korean consulate celebrates National Foundation Day with Cebu officials

MEMBERS of the Consulate of the Republic of Korea in Cebu and officials of Metro Cebu celebrated the country’s National Foundation Day, or Gaecheonjeol, at the Marco Polo Plaza Hotel in Cebu City on Thursday night, October 6, 2022.

This year’s holiday, which “celebrates the legendary formation of the first Korean state of Gojoseon in 2333 BC,” according to Wikipedia, fell on Monday, October 3.

In his speech, Consul General Song Sewon expressed his gratitude to the Philippine Government, particularly to the local government units of Cebu, for the continuous cooperation between the two countries, bringing prosperity amid the global coronavirus pandemic and super typhoon Odette.

In the same event, Mayor Mike Rama asked the Korean government and the tri-cities to help him achieve his vision of a “Singapore-like” Cebu City.
