Amid her ongoing health struggles with multiple autoimmune diseases, Kris Aquino has been diagnosed with yet another autoimmune disease.

Ballsy Aquino, Kris' sister, disclosed this in a Zoom interview with non-governmental organization Banyuhay Aotearoa which was posted on its Facebook page on Saturday (Aug 20).

Ballsy said Kris' medical team was still trying to find a suitable treatment for her. However, that had proved challenging because the actress had various food, plant, and medicine allergies.

“Unfortunately, they are still trying to give her the right, correct treatment. She has so many allergies that all the medicines they’ve been trying haven’t been working, or maybe they did but then the side effects – they were not too happy about,” Ballsy said.

“When she left, she had two autoimmune diseases. I think now there are four,” Ballsy added. “She’s not even 90 pounds now, she’s like 85 or 86. For the other treatments that they want to try, she has to put on more weight. She has to get a little bit stronger.”

Sons gave her strength

Kris had earlier travelled to Houston, Texas to seek treatment for her conditions.

Since May this year, Kris had shared on social media about her ongoing battle with multiple autoimmune diseases, including chronic spontaneous urticaria, autoimmune thyroiditis, and EGPA (Eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis), an extremely rare form of vasculitis.

It's unclear what the new, fourth autoimmune disease that she has been diagnosed with is.

Ballsy said that Kris' sons, Josh and Bimby, had strengthened her fighting spirit against her diseases.

She had thoughts of giving up, but was determined to continue battling her illnesses for the sake of her sons.

“[But the past few days], she has been in good spirits and she says that there are times – well because there was a time she was really feeling that she was about to give up because she was having such a difficult time,” Ballsy said. “But then, when she looks at the pictures of her sons or when she sees them, then she knows she still has to fight.”
