Kris Sends Belated Father’s Day Greeting To James

While most fathers get personal Father's Day greetings and Facebook shout-outs, loquacious television personality Kris Aquino has greeted former husband and Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) cager James Yap so on national television, no less.

"Sa daddy ni Bimby, kay James Yap, happy, happy Father's Day," Kris said on her daily morning talk show, "Kris TV," on June 18.

The two tied the knot in a civil ceremony on July 2005 and became parents to five-year-old James Aquino Yap Jr. (Bimby), their only child, almost two years later. However, on June 2010, Kris announced via the ABS-CBN Sunday talk show "The Buzz" that her marriage with James is "over" without disclosing reasons for said decision.

After two months, Kris filed the "petition for the declaration of nullity of marriage" before a Makati court. Finally, in early February this year, she announced via Twitter that her union with the athlete has already been legally nullified due to "lack of authority from the solemnizing officer."

Meanwhile, Kris shared that Bimby spent Father's Day, June 17, with James.

"They were together, nanood si Bimby n'ung game niya kagabi," she said.

Kris then took the opportunity to promote an upcoming TV feature on James Yap on the ABS-CBN News Channel.

"If I'm not mistaken, sinabi sa'kin na may feature daw kay James sa 'Pipol,' 'yung kay Ces Drilon... [on] ANC. Abangan niyo kasi kasama si Bimby do'n. So 'yun, let's watch it," she said, laughing.
