Kristin Cavallari is facing some backlash over a new photo where she shows off her tan lines and deems them "in" for the summer.
The 34-year-old Laguna Beach alum posted a picture of herself posing in a black bikini in Palm Springs, Calif. with a fresh tan on her body and tan lines exposed beneath her bathing suit's silhouette. And while she brought more attention to the lines with her caption, many people are calling her out for the ill-timed comment during Skin Cancer Awareness month.
"Please don't promote tan lines! I adore you but sun can be very damaging to skin and very disfiguring depending on the location of a skin cancer," one person wrote, while another commented, "As a role model to many of our youth and as a mother yourself, your message saddens me."
The commenter went on to address the death rate of melanoma and corrected Cavallari's caption to say "pale is the new tan." Another retorted, "I think sunscreen is in."
Still, it seems that the mother-of-three already started some sort of trend as others were quick to comment, "Now I want tan lines."
Regardless of the message behind Cavallari's caption, however, most were stunned to see her fit figure.
"It's a shame that you haven't been in Sport's Illustrated Swimsuit yet," one person remarked. Another wrote, "Some women really do age like fine wine."
