CEBU City Vice Mayor Michael Rama has been directed again to perform the duties of the mayor from September 2, 2021 to September 7, 2021.
In a Memorandum No. 2021-408 dated September 1 signed by Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella, he appointed Rama to be the acting mayor for five days.
"Pursuant to the rules of succession as provided for under Republic Act. No. 7160, also known as the Local Government Code of 1991, and under relevant jurisprudence on this matter, you are hereby directed to exercise the powers and perform the duties of the mayor of the City of Cebu from September 2 to 7, 2021 in a temporary/acting capacity," the memorandum states.
The memorandum did not state the reason of the mayor's leave.
This is now the sixth leave that Labella has taken for this year.
Labella first took a medical leave in January after he got an ear infection. Last May 31, he took a three-day leave after he was hospitalized for "slight pneumonia."
Last June 9, he took a three-week leave to fully recover from sepsis. On July 14, he took a three-day leave due to persistent cough, and the fifth one was the extended leave from July 14 until his return on August 19. (JJL)
