IF THE need arises, Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella will not hesitate to impose a lockdown in the city.
“If the circumstances would warrant, we will impose the necessary measure. We will act accordingly,” said Labella in a phone interview with SunStar Cebu.
Given that Cebu City remains negative of any cases of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19), normal work shall continue, he said.
Labella assured the public that the City Government has been closely coordinating with the Department of Health Central Visayas.
He said the task force and the City Health Office are on standby in case the situation gets worse.
“Though we have no case yet, we have to be prepared,” said Labella.
Labella urged the public to stay calm, avoid panicking and continue doing precautionary measures.
He also discouraged Cebu City residents to travel outside Cebu province since Covid-19 is now considered a pandemic.
The mayor has supported the decision of the president on imposing a lockdown in Metro Manila since it is the recommendation of the task force and the health agency.
He said if the situation gets worse, he will also abide by the recommendation of the health office and the City’s task force.
The mayor is set to issue an executive order concerning the pandemic. (JJL)
