CHRISTMAS has started early for the public school teachers in Lapu-Lapu City after they received financial aid from the city government.
Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan gave P2,000 to each of the 3,406 teaching and non-teaching staff in the city.
Aside from giving cash assistance, the city government also allocated P15 million for the improvement of online and modular distance learning adopted by the Department of Education (DepEd) to protect students and teachers amid the pandemic sparked by coronavirus disease 2019.
Ronald Ferrer, chief administrator of the DepEd Lapu-Lapu City, was thankful for the assistance they received from the city government.
He disclosed that the distribution of the cash assistance started on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2020. It will end on Friday, Oct. 16.
All 10 DepEd districts, including the two districts in Olango Island, were scheduled to receive the financial aid.
Ferrer said the cash assistance from the mayor’s office is a big help for teachers who visit their pupils’ homes to deliver learning modules. (GCM / CBQ)
