THE Lapu-Lapu City Government is set to open its night market to the public starting Friday, September 9, 2022, at the City Hall parking area.

Dubbed as “Kasadya sa Lapu-Lapu,” the newest food park, which will feature “Opon’s Best,” initially opens every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at 5:30 p.m. and closes at midnight.

An array of kiosks is established, selling various food choices, delicacies, and locally-made crafts just in time for the holiday season.

The food choices at the market reportedly went through food tasting from the city officials, including Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan and some members of the City Council.

“Miagi na sila og food tasting upon displaying their food products, there are some nga wala makapasar tungod dunay almost the same ang gibaligya,” said Lapu-Lapu City public information officer Mark Anthony Bautista.

But Bautista said the food choices are expected to increase later on, adding that the city officials are still conducting food tasting and are planning to cater to vendors who sell souvenir shirts and other products made by the constituents or locals of Lapu-Lapu City.

This was officially opened Thursday, September 8, which was also the birthday of Chan, who reportedly initiated the newest food park in order to revive the business activities in the city while heading toward the new normal.

Bautista said the night market is expected to be open to the public daily once the City Government observes this to have attracted and gathered a lot of people.

The night market is also expected to end by December 25 or on Christmas Day this year, according to Bautista. (MKG)
