Lapu-Lapu contingent expresses readiness for Sinulog sa Carmen

THE Lapu-Lapu City contingent is about 90 percent ready for the 50th Sinulog festival in Carmen town, northern Cebu on Sunday, January 22, 2023.

John Kristoffer Rafols, officer-in-charge of Lapu-Lapu City Tourism Department, said Wednesday, January 18, that they allocated another amount for the purchase of meals of the contingent since their first budget of P1 million that was intended for the Sinulog Grand Parade in Cebu City, where they were supposed to join, has already been spent.

The Lapu-Lapu City contingent is one of the 10 contingents that backed out of the Sinulog Grand Parade in Cebu City on January 15 due to incessant rains in the days prior to Sinulog day that made the venue muddy.

Rafols clarified that the City Government has not received the P800,000 subsidy promised by the Sinulog Foundation Inc.

But he stressed that the Cebu Provincial Government will give them P800,000 subsidy, which is still being processed as of press time. (MKG)
