Lapu-Lapu mayor now coronavirus-free

LAPU-LAPU City Mayor Junard "Ahong" Chan announced Wednesday, June 24, that he already tested negative for the virus that causes the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

He said his latest test result came out today, June 24.

Chan announced last June 12 that he tested positive for coronavirus. He was first swabbed on June 10.

I am happy to announce that I already tested negative for coronavirus after a 14-day isolation since June 10)," he said in his Facebook account.

He said the public's support is what motivated him to continue his fight against Covid-19.

Ang inyong makabungog nga suporta ug pagdasig inubanan sa inyong hugot ug makanunayon nga pag-ampo maoy naghatod kanako sa paspas nga recovery," he said.

The mayor is hoping to get back to work and lead the fight against the novel coronavirus.

As of June 23, Lapu-Lapu City already has 304 cases of Covid-19.

Chan said the cases increased due to contact tracing efforts done by authorities. (NDT/LMY)
