Lapu police arrest 88 individuals in 2-week operations

AT LEAST 88 personalities were arrested by police in Lapu-Lapu City in the span of two weeks, or during the recent holidays.

In a press conference Monday, November 7, 2022, Police Colonel Elmer Lim, director of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office, said these 88 individuals were arrested for various violations from October 24 to November 6.

Of the number, 15 were arrested due to illegal drugs, while 40 for illegal gambling and nine individuals for illegal possession of firearms.

He said there were also 24 wanted persons arrested, eight of whom were categorized as most wanted individuals.

Lim said some of those nabbed are on the top 10 list of wanted persons in the city level, while others are in the municipal level or neighboring towns.

Meanwhile, a total of 2,177.6 grams of illegal drugs worth P14,804,008 were confiscated in the same period.

Lim said 11 firearms were also confiscated from the arrested persons, three of which are categorized as high-powered firearms while the remaining eight are low-powered.

Lim said some of the arrested individuals did not only commit one violation, as others were reportedly caught with illegal drugs and firearms altogether.

The city director no men from the law enforcement agencies were arrested. (MKG)
