Lauren Pounds, one of the contestants on Netflix's newest (and messiest) dating show The Ultimatum, has called out the streamer saying they lied about her age, telling viewers she's younger than she actually is.
The show follows a group of six couples putting their relationships to the test. In each of the couples one person has issued an ultimatum to the other: that they want to get married or they're calling time on the relationship. In a bid to find out what they really want, the couples split and date the other people on the show, with the ultimate questions being whether they'll decide to stay together at the end or break up.
Obviously, the show is carnage, and as if it couldn't get any more dramatic one of the participants, Lauren Pounds, has called out Netflix on Instagram saying they lied about her age.
Lauren entered the show with her boyfriend Nate who had issued an ultimatum to her. In the confessionals Jake's age is listed as 30, while Lauren's is listed as 26. However, earlier this Lauren posted a picture on Instagram of herself in a bikini perched on a hammock, along with the caption, "3️⃣0️⃣ and thriving 🌿."
While The Ultimatum was filmed a little while ago fans were quick to spot that Lauren's real age doesn't seem to marry up with the show. One fan commented on the post, expressing their confusion and Lauren responded, "they lied about my age. We can’t figure out if it was intentional or not 🙃."
A little while later Lauren then posted a screenshot of the whole interaction on her Instagram Story along with the caption, "Beyond interesting. So it's okay for a man on tv to be 30, but we have to lie about age if the woman is?"
Meanwhile, fans have also theorised that another participant has had their age changed. Alexis Maloney, who appeared on the show with partner Hunter Parr turned 27 in November 2021, but was listed as being 25 on the show. Again, given the the series was reportedly filmed in spring 2019 Alexis would actually have been 26 at the time of filming.
It's all just a little baffling, isn't it?
