If there's one thing Dubai does well, it's racking up world records. The desert city is already home to the world's tallest building (the Burj Khalifa, at 828m high), the largest fountain (The Palm Fountain) - and it can now claim that it has the deepest pool for diving in the world, in the form of Deep Dive Dubai

The pool, which plummets to an incredible depth of 60.02 meters, holds 14 million litres of fresh water (the equivalent of six Olympic-sized swimming pools).

It also features an incredible 'sunken city' for divers to explore, complete with a fake apartment, a ruined streetscape and an arcade where divers can play games such as table football.

Trainee and expert free divers and scuba divers alike will be able to make use of an array of amazing facilities, including a hyperbaric chamber (used for treating the bends).

The pool also boasts two underwater habitats, with a dry chamber at six and 21 metres, as well as top-level sound and lighting systems featuring 164 lights. Filtered every six hours using volcanic rock, NASA-developed filter technology and UV radiation, the pool will be kept constantly at a diving-optimal 30 degrees Celsius.

And the pool is as impressive on the outside as it is on the inside - the huge 1,500sqm diving centre, which is designed to look like a giant oyster, will also feature a shop and a restaurant. There are even glass viewing areas looking into the pool, so you can watch the divers while you eat or take a wander around.

Not content with being the world's deepest dive pool, Deep Dive Dubai will also serve as a massive underwater film studio, complete with a media editing room, video wall and 56 underwater cameras.

It will also play host to events for up to 100 people. Anyone for an underwater wedding?

Deep Dive Dubai’s Director Jarrod Jablonski, a world record-holding cave diver, said: "Deep Dive Dubai offers something truly unique for everyone and our team is committed to ensuring a memorable experience."
