LGUs joining Sinulog grand parade get P800,000 subsidy

THE Cebu Provincial Government has already released the P800,000 subsidy promised to each of the nine local government units (LGUs) that will participate in the Sinulog Grand Parade on Sunday, January 15, 2023.

Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia announced this in an interview with reporters on Monday, January 9.

"In fact, I have already released the P800,000 that was in agreement with when Jojo Labella, Ricky Dakay and Councilor (Phillip) Zafra were here so I said how much can you give as a subsidy kay tugbangan na sa probinsya (as the province will give a counterpart)," Garcia said.

Garcia earlier issued an advisory that all LGUs that will join the One Cebu Island Sinulog 2023 or the Sinulog Grand Parade will receive an assistance of P800,000 from the Provincial Government.

Based on the list of the province, participating contingents will come from the cities of Mandaue, Talisay, Naga, Carcar and Toledo and the municipalities of Tuburan, Carmen, Moalboal and Consolacion.

Consolacion town will get P1 million subsidy being the official bearer of Garcia’s entourage.

Garcia will be joined by Capitol employees during the ritual showdown.

Meanwhile, Garcia also promised to give P20 million to Sinulog Foundation Inc. as financial aid.

"Eight million of that refers to previous years that they have not collected because I think wala pa sila naka liquidate. On top of the P8 million ingon ko since this is One Cebu Island pun-an nato og P12 million para mahimong P20 million," Garcia said. (ANV, TPT)
