MANILA, Philippines – Several mall operators in Metro Manila on Saturday announced their adjusted operating hours in anticipation of the possible implementation of curfew across the region during the community quarantine period.
This follows the issuance of a resolution by the Metro Manila Council urging all local government units (LGU) in Metro Manila to issue ordinances for the temporary closure of malls and other establishments during the quarantine period to curb the spread of novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) later clarified that the 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. curfew it earlier announced would not be immediately enforced as LGUs still need to pass local ordinances to implement it in their respective areas.
