A LIVE-IN partner of a real estate agent who was shot dead in San Remigio town in northern Cebu was among those charged with murder on Thursday, May 26, 2022.

Aside from Melissa Amodia Bofel, 47, of Barangay Poblacion, San Remigio, also charged with murder were Grace "Boy" Fable, 54, of Barangay Victoria, San Remigio, and Rowen Cose, 29, of Barangay Maravilla, Tabuelan, who drove the motorcycle ridden by gunman Verlito Maralas Marianito, 54, of Barangay Victoria.

Police Executive Master Sergeant Jojanesky Ynot of San Remigio Police Station said in an interview with SunStar Cebu that Bofel and Fable were tagged by some witnesses as the masterminds in the killing of real estate agent Franklin Capuno Sayson, 48, of Barangay Estaca, Compostela town, northern Cebu.

Both Bofel and Fable admitted to the crime in their extra-judicial confession but refused to sign it, while Cose already submitted his extra-judicial confession.

Cose admitted that he and Marianito were paid P25,000 to kill Sayson.

Ynot said at least three witnesses testified that Bofel and Fable have been constantly asking Marianito to kill the victim.

"Ato'ng saksi nakadungog, nakakita aning duha nga maoy nagplano (sa murder ni Sayson), gani una nilang gipalabas nga kulatado sa biktima ang kapuyo. Nagsige silag hangyo ni Marianito nga kusog mangulata ang biktima aron mosugot kini nga iyang patyon," Ynot said.

(Our witness heard, saw the two planning (the murder of Sayson), they even made it appear that the victim would always beat his live-in partner. They kept saying Sayson was a troublemaker to convince Marianito to kill him).

Bofel and Fable revealed that it took them two weeks to plan the murder of Sayson.

Sayson and Bofel were renting a house owned by Fable. They would facilitate the selling of lots of their clients and would always bring Fable with them in their transactions.

The police are now looking into the commission from the sales of the lot sold by Sayson as the motive in the killing.

Major Ian Macatangay, chief of San Remigio Police Station, said Fable got mad at the victim, who did not give him a commission from the sale of a property worth P13.5 million.

Sayson was shot dead by Marianito on Tuesday dawn, May 24, 2022, in Barangay Luyang, San Remigio town.

Sayson was onboard his motorcycle and had stopped at Luyang to attend the wake of a friend when two men onboard another motorcycle approached him.

Master Sergeant Gregorio Geramis of San Remigio Police Station said Marianito disembarked from the motorcycle, approached the victim and shot him several times.

Corporal Laong-laang Cane Toring of the Bogo City Police Station, Fable's son-in-law who happened to be at the wake of the relative of his wife, immediately responded and fired at the suspects.

Marianito died instantly, while Cose, who was hit in the butt, left his motorcycle and fled.

Cose, however, was arrested at 5:30 a.m. of the same day during a hot pursuit operation conducted by operatives of the San Remigio and Bogo City police stations. (GPL, TPT)
