Residents of Agoncillo, Batangas have started the clearing operation and fixing of street posts and waterpipes in their town.
With the severity of the damage brought about by the tremors and ashfall due to the Taal Volcano eruption, the Agoncillo local government said it could take three to five months before the lives of residents can return to normalcy.
The streets and establishments in the municipality are covered by ash.
Most of the buildings and houses in the whole town, particularly in Barangay Pamiga, either have cracks or completely destroyed.
Most of the residents, with their houses totally ruined, just took what clothes and other things they could salvage and went to their residents in nearby towns.
The local government said concerned government agencies are fixing the water services, while the town’s electric company is doing its best to fix the electricity in the area.
The LGU will be conducting an assessment on the extent of the damage to determine the cost it will take for the whole town to rise again from the Taal tragedy. — (with details from Vincent Arboleda) /mbmf
