THE League of Municipalities of the Philippines Cebu Chapter is donating P500,000 in financial assistance to Cagayan Valley following the onslaught of Typhoon Ulysses, which has submerged entire towns and cities in the region.
LMP Cebu president and Liloan Mayor Christina Frasco made the announcement following a consensus among the League of Mayors from the 44 municipalities of the Province of Cebu.
Frasco said: “We are sending the P500,000 in financial assistance as a sign of solidarity with our fellow mayors and our brothers and sisters in Cagayan. During this time of immeasurable suffering, may the Cebuanos’ compassion and empathy for our fellow Filipinos be a beacon of hope that together, we shall rise again.”
According to Frasco, she has spoken on the phone with LMP Cagayan president Mayor Vicente Pagurayan of the Municipality of Sto. Niño who expressed his profound gratitude to the Cebu mayors and said he would convene with the League of Mayors in Cagayan so the assistance can be apportioned to the 28 municipalities affected by the typhoon.
