MANILA, Philippines — The local police in the city of Navotas reported an increase in lockdown violators in the past weeks.
From 3,600 on July 16, the number increased to 3,894 on July 23.
As of Thursday (July 23), the city government has hit its target of 1,000 swab testing per day.
Mayor Toby Tiangco announced that the community swab testing has also started, although only 577 individuals submitted for testing on the first day.
In his broadcast on Facebook, Mayor Tiangco encouraged Navoteños to avail of the opportunity to take the swab tests to immediately address whether anyone tests positive.
“Hinihikayat ko po ang lahat na makiisa o pumunta doon sa ating community swabbing (I am encouraging everyone to join in the community swabbing],” Mayor Tiangco said.
“Mas mabuti na po kung alam nyo kung kayo ay may COVID-19 o wala. Ito lamang po ang paraan para malaman ninyo dahil karamihan po ng ating positive ay walang sintomas o asymptomatic (It would be better know if you have COVID-19. This is the only way to know it because most of our positive cases are asymptomatic),” he added.
He constantly calls on his constituents to heed the government-imposed health protocols to be able to contain the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
