Jack Fowler, a contestant from Love Island 2018, was rushed to hospital on Tuesday morning with severe headaches and lack of vision where he was diagnosed with viral meningitis, a serious infection which can cause life-threatening blood poisoning and permanent damage to the brain or nerves.
In an emotional post on his Instagram, Fowler acknowledged that he'd received numerous messages on the platform after there'd been no activity on his profile for a few days. Fans has become concerned after noticing that he hadn't posted to his profile since Nov 22nd.
In a post on his stories Fowler explained the traumatic incident stating, "Crazy how many have sent me DMs asking if I'm okay as I've been absent from IG. Thanks for the check-ups."
He then went onto detail to fans what had happened, "Here's an update. Unfortunately, I was rushed to hospital Tuesday morning with severe headaches and lack of vision. I then had a lumbar puncture that showed I had viral meningitis."
Elaborating on this scary situation, Jack added: "I was unresponsive for a few days whilst being under morphine and several antibiotics. But now on the road to recovery. Home now and resting up."
