AN ELECTRICAL short circuit may have caused the fire that razed 27 houses in Sitio Lahing-lahing, Barangay Mabolo, Cebu City on Wednesday afternoon, August 31, 2022.

However, Fire Offier 3 Fulbert Navarro of the Cebu City Fire Office (CFFO) said they are still investigating the blaze.

He said the fire started in the house of Epifanio Agrapao.

He said they received the alarm at 12:34 p.m. The fire was placed on first alarm four minutes later. It wasn’t until 1:30 p.m. that the fire was declared under control.

Navarro said fire out was declared at 1:50 p.m.

The CCFO said two persons were hurt during the blaze.

They were identified as 43-year-old Cristina Pabilic and 73-year-old Marina Varro.

Damage to properties was pegged at P690,000.

Navarro said they had a hard time putting out the fire, which seemed to have been kindled by strong winds.

They also couldn’t get their trucks close to the fire scene because the area was located in the interior portion of the sitio, he said, adding that they were forced to connect their hoses to douse the flames. (BBT, PJB)
