MAGNOLIA shrugged off fatigue as they pulled off a 103-89 drubbing of the TerraFirma Dyip in the PBA Philippine Cup on Thursday, November 5, at the Angeles University Foundation Sports Arena and Cultural Center in Pampanga.

The Hotshots were coming off a huge win over the league-leading TNT on Wednesday afternoon, but summoned enough spunk to outgun the Dyip in the third period, 28-14, to take full control of the game and come away with the victory to even their win-loss record up at 4-4.

TerraFirma’s woes, meanwhile, continued as they suffered their seventh loss in a row.

Up by just two at halftime, Magnolia came out of the dugout with more energy and focus, and uncorked 11 unanswered points behind baskets from Paul Lee, Rome dela Rosa and Ian Sangalang to establish a 60-48 lead. Later in the third, they unleashed another 11-0 blast to bring a 76-60 lead to the game’s last chapter.

Lee led the way for Magnolia with 29 points, 15 coming in the second quarter that helped the Hotshots close the gap after trailing 28-38. Dela Rosa added 17 points, while Sangalang finished with a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds.

CJ Perez paced TerraFirma with 19 points but missed 10 of his 16 attempts from the field. (JNP)
