THE Magnolia Hotshots stepped their game up in the endgame to put down the TNT Tropang Giga, 102-92, in the PBA Philippine Cup on Wednesday, November 4, at the Angeles University Foundation Sports Arena and Cultural Center in Pampanga.

With TNT breathing down their necks in the fourth quarter, Magnolia turned to their veterans to keep the Tropang Giga at bay and Paul Lee, Ian Sangalang, Mark Barroca and Chris Banchero delivered in 21-11 windup that gave the Hotshots their third win in five games.

It was also Magnolia’s second straight win against a team in the upper half of the standings. The squad was coming off handing Ginebra its first loss of the tournament nine days ago.

Lee was magnificent against TNT as he scored 27 points spiked by 4-of-8 shooting from beyond the arc. Banchero finished with 19 points while Sangalang added 15 points and nine boards. Barroca registered 14 points, six rebounds and seven assists.

TNT dropped to 6-2 (win-loss) in spite getting 29 points from Bobby Ray Parks and 25 more from Jayson Castro.

After trailing by as much as 18, TNT pulled to within one, 81-82, after a triple by Castro. Magnolia, though, kept their composure and responded with a 11-2 run that was capped off by two straight buckets from Banchero that gave the Hotshots a 93-83 lead with 4:10 to go. (JNP)
