Malacañang-PSC suffers first loss at UNTV Cup 6

The four-game-flawless Malacañang-PSC Kamao received its first loss of the season after the Judiciary Magis defeated them on Sunday, November 19 at the Pasig City Sports Center.

Led by former professional basketball player Warren Ybañez, the Magis overturned the winning favor from the Kamao after Vincent John Puno converted two free throw shots, 83-82; and Ybañez for another free throw due to a technical foul given to Kamao’s Joseph Besa, 84-82.

Earlier in the game, the first and the second quarter was dominated by the Judiciary.

It was on the 3rd quarter when Malacañang-PSC started to reign, pouring a total of 28 points led by Vishnu Das Javier, Christian Luanzon and Eric Dela Cuesta and took the lead at the end of the period, 55-53.

The 4th period entered and Malacañang-PSC Kamao was still in control of the game with occasional exchanges of firepower from both teams until the last two minutes of the game when the momentum sided with the Judiciary Magis.

Then on, the Kamao failed to recover.

Best Player of the Game was claimed by Warren Ybañez, Vincent John Puno and Julius Caesar Rabino.

In the other games of the triple-header: the BFP Firefighters continued their winning streak upon punishing the COA Enablers in a high-scoring battle, 132-83.

Firefighters playing coach Gilbert Malabanan led the team with 28 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals with solid back up performances by Jonathan Eguea 14p, Julius Jayona 13p and Roderick Marquez 12p. Three other Firefighters scored 11 points apiece.

Meanwhile, PDEA Drug Busters smacked down the Ombudsman Graft Busters with an 32-point victory, 109-77.

Marlon Basco produced 35 points for PDEA plus 15 points from Jogger Montallana and 14 points from Brillos Rizon.

On the other hand, Renelou Lumague contributed 15 points for the Ombudsman Graft Busters and 13 points from Christopher Lasam. — UNTV New Media
